-Set out early to begin this weeks sampling; we prepared the gear, fixed the trailers and headed out. Things were a bit rocky this morning due to a multitude of small hangups but we made it out only 20 min behind schedule. The first site we went to was Cow Point roughly 35min away toward the east side of the estuary; the mud was pretty bad, you sank immediately about a foot as soon as you stopped moving. We then made our way over to Moon and Rennie Islands where the mud was replaced with sand; this is much easier to work in. Lastly, we made our way to Elliott Slough, this site was another 25 min east and contained narrow channels with high waters making it almost impossible to work in. The day was concluded with x7 beach seining and an hour long boat ride back to West Port, Wa.

-The schedule is pushed back gradually every morning due to the tides, but generally the tides delay heading out +30-60 mins every morning as we follow the low tide cycle. This morning was much smoother but unfortunately the first site Sterns Bluff contained a soft muddy surface layer that put the fish into potential danger so we decided that one seining was enough. The weather turned for worse during the second and third sites Goose and Sand Islands but the weather picked up during the last seining at Damon Point, this is the only cobbled beach in the estuary and was an amazing place.
